Google Partnership Launch

Our 7 da Vinci students were invited to attend the significant Google partnership launch last week that incorporates Plumpton High School and a number of other local schools. Schools Plus with CEO Rosemary Conn speaking about the significance of this partnership and the Hon. Ed Husic Federal Member for Chifley also supports this project. The project is for 12 months (with the possibility of extension) and Schools Plus and Google will stay with the project for this duration.

Detailed planning is commencing to establish the scope of the project that will have a Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) focus. Sallyanne Williams - Engineering Community and Outreach Manager for Google spoke about the essential skill of computer science plus ‘X’ students need to develop in the 21st century to assist in their success, where ‘X’ can be any skill or capability that a student excels at.

 

Students were engaged in the career stories of some senior Google employees including Mel Silva Australia Pacific General Manager at Google who focussed on technology through their life journeys. Students participated in two workshops using Virtual Reality goggles and the second focussed on Mechatronics with Robotics from Macquarie University.
