In week 1 of Term 3 Plumpton High School welcomed Blacktown City Council Mayor Cr. Stephen Bali and Matthew O’Connor Manager Recreation Planning and Design. Both Cr. Bali and Matthew assessed the highest rated projects developed by Stage 4 students based on the partnership with Blacktown Council and Plumpton High School.
The project was based around a number of opportunities to develop Alroy Park to:
• Improve the park for the local community use taking into consideration, the safety, cultural and environmental sustainability and economic constraints.
• Improve shared use between Council and School sites.
• Ensure that the decisions made have been made with community consultation ( for this the students created a survey and sent it out and collected data).
Our Project Based Learning aims to develop the essential capabilities that are required to succeed in our complex world. Some of these include collaboration, leadership, solving complex problems, public speaking, literacy, numeracy, innovation and creativity.
Thank you to Mayor Bali and Matthew for taking the time out of their busy schedule to work with our students, your time and expertise is highly valued.
