Kyle, Hayley and Mrs Sarah Prinsloo with Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley NSW Governor

Plumpton High School was recognised for its hard work and diligence in having over 100 participants completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award program for both Bronze and Silver level and also having an Award leader, who has completed her Gold Level Certificate of the award.

The students and teacher representing the school were, Kyle (year 11), Hayley (year 11) and Mrs Sarah Prinsloo (Coordinator and Gold level recipient). They were extremely thankful for the opportunity to represent the phoenix at such a prestigious event.

The evening involved meeting and speaking with both His Royal Highness and Her excellency about the value of completing the Bronze and Silver levels of the Duke of Edinburgh and sharing the experiences had on the Adventure Journeys that Plumpton High School has organised for the students. It was a spectacular night showing the hard work and dedication that our students have towards building their futures, while also being thankful for the opportunities they are presented with each day at school.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme is now a mandatory part of the Plumpton High School's Year 9 Curriculum that is built into the Wellbeing Framework and PDHPE program. It aims to build leadership, courage, collaboration, problem solving, self-esteem, positive mindset and sense of contribution as a global citizen. The school funds Year 9 students to complete the Bronze level as it is valued so highly in the workforce and by universities.

Special thanks need to be attributed to Mrs Prinsloo, Ms Langham, the PDHPE Faculty who lead the program and other staff who attend events such as the Adventurous Journey.
