Plumpton Year 12 University of Technology Sydney (UTS) U@Uni Academy Hackathon

07 Dec 2021

Hackathon Challenge Overview

Challenge Brief theme of the 2021 hackathon workshop is the ‘Future of Work’

A Hackathon can be broadly defined as a method of creative problem solving that can run for a few hours or a few days. Typically, a team works collaboratively to find solutions to issues that could be causing a problem (sometimes known as a problem or challenge statement) or a theme such as sustainability, community engagement or the Future of Work.

Hackathons bring together diverse teams, which is a powerful way to solve problems as the team can draw upon the unique skills, ideas, and perspectives of individual members.

During the U@Uni Hackathon Workshop, students compete in teams against other Southwest Sydney high school teams to pitch their solution to our judging panel of UTS Careers staff members.

The top 3 videos will then be reviewed by an industry representative from Google who will decide on the overall winner.

Thank you to the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) for providing this priceless opportunity to secure our students tertiary education future. Thank you also to Ms Galea and Ms Avon for their tremendous work in supporting our students in the Academy along with their mentors at UTS.
