Congratulations to Bushra of Year 10 who was awarded an Australian Business Community Network (ABCN) Scholarships last night.
Bushra is 1 of 45 students across Australia to win these prestigious scholarships in 2022 an incredible feat that demonstrates her intellectual ability, leadership capacity, determination, courage, community contribution and commitment to striving for excellence. Students can potentially be offered employment with these companies following the completion of their studies.
An ABCN Scholarship entitles Scholars to:
• A senior business mentor selected by ABCN from their network of member companies
• $7000 over years 11, 12 and the first year of further education, training or employment
• Participate in the ABCN Accelerate program
Plumpton High School has proudly partnered with ABCN for the past seven years and is commencing year 8 in 2023. We would like to express our sincere thanks to ABCN and its member companies that provide our students opportunities by opening doors and access to business networks to build their level of innovation, creativity, knowledge, skills and leadership capacity.
The evening also celebrated the ABCN Scholarship graduating class with two of our previous scholars Tanzeela Shakeel who is currently studying at Macquarie University and her mentor Elizabeth Hedges from Bain and Company who is currently studying at Macquarie University. Also graduating David Okereafor who was not able to be present. We would like to sincerely thank Drew Woodhouse from Bain and Company for his tremendous mentorship of David who was able to attend and thank you to Elizabeth for her amazing mentoring of Tanzeela.
Some of Plumpton High School’s ABCN business partners that we work with on a regular basis include Lend Lease, Bain and Company, TAL, JP Morgan, Microsoft, Amex, Accenture, Ernst and Young and The Commonwealth Bank. Plumpton students have now been awarded 9 ABCN Scholarships over the last 7 years, which is an outstanding achievement.
I would also like to acknowledge the work of our Student Advocate Gemma Avon who supports our ABCN scholars’ leadership and learning journey working closely with them and our business partners.
