Dux Assembly 2022 HSC High Achievers - Congratulations

17 Feb 2023

Congratulations to the 2022 HSC High Achievers who attended the Dux Assembly to recognise their accomplishments. The assembly was also attended by our current 2023 HSC Cohort and high potential and gifted education students at Plumpton who were able to hear and learn from the 2022 cohort, their secrets of success.

Congratulations upon your achievements in the HSC that has ultimately resulted in you, being the best that you can be. This is enabling you to continue to attain your goals and dreams and contribute to the future as leaders and citizens. I am incredibly proud to be the principal of this great school supporting the needs of all our students, staff and the community.

Excellence and success were achieved as you believed in yourself. You were braver than you thought, more talented than you knew, and capable of more than you imagined. You persisted in the face of the COVID-19 adversity over 3 years making the most of opportunities available to you enduring 54 days of lockdown, learning from feedback and critique, understanding that failing was a critical part of longer-term success, essential for growth and finding solutions to complex problems.

Success was students contributing positively to our school and as global citizens by making the most of all opportunities available to support them on their journey. Our staff and business partners are also to be congratulated for this HSC success. They have continued working tirelessly to ensure students have developed the intellectual capacity to understand complex concepts, develop quality professional and personal relationships and positive self-concept, attributes that are essential for life success and to be tomorrow’s world leaders. This is not only evident in each student’s individual classes, but also through the implementation of Plumpton’s Wellbeing Framework that incorporates Growth Mindset and Positive Psychology at its core.

You have represented yourselves at a level of excellence and none more than Azka Chaudhry, our 2022 Dux with her 92.95 ATAR, and being recognised as a NSW HSC Distinguished Achiever in: Biology, and English Advanced along with Bradley Masson being recognised as a Distinguished Achiever in English Extension 1.

I would also like to make mention of and congratulate Shaibah Hussain who attained an ATAR of 90.70 and Paula Garces who was nominated for InTech. This continuing a tradition of great success for Plumpton with these incredible achievements.

As a cohort you achieved extraordinary success with 80 students completing the HSC and having 109 University Early Entry Offers for 40 students seeking to attend university to a multitude of different Universities including Sydney, UNSW, UTS, Macquarie, New England, Wollongong, WSU and more.

These student results show that anything is possible with hard work and rigor. In addition, it shows that excellence can be achieved in Western Sydney Comprehensive Public high schools.

No one could ask for more than you have achieved given the adverse circumstances, and you need to be proud of your accomplishments, as this type of mindset will place you well as you continue study and ultimately in the professions you pursue.

I want to impart this thought from Simon Sinek that is extremely relevant and essential in this modern world for success and you experienced this during your time at Plumpton High School:

“No matter when or where,

Always bring your ‘A’ game,

Because you never know when it,

Will open doors for you”.

These great results were achieved by the students sitting here who brought their ‘A’ Game, had a clear plan, structure and process and were taught, partnered and supported by great teachers, business partners each other and family. They were able to break down what was required into smaller achievable portions and focus on completing each part of what was required to the best of their ability.

Thank you to Mr Simonovski and the Celebrating Success Team, Ms Langham, Mr Symes our Hospitality students and Ms O’Neill for the organisation of the event and morning tea.
