Find Your Purpose - Partnering with ABCN and MinterEllison

Continuing our outstanding collaboration with ABCN, we kicked off 2024 with a ‘Find Your Purpose’ Program for Year 9 students with the prestigious law firm, MinterEllison.

‘Find Your Purpose’ was designed to equip students with the understanding of what is important to them and the confidence to follow their passions. ‘Find Your Purpose’ was developed in collaboration with independent charity, The Purpose Project. Recent research shows that half of high school students feel worried about their future career and less than 25% feel confident.

Professional mentors can provide career insight and guidance that make an enormous difference in helping reduce anxiety around post school plans. ‘Find Your Purpose’ is aimed at Year 9–10 students to help them better understand themselves, their values, and their ambitions for life. Working with mentors’ students gained a deeper understanding of what’s important to them, and how they can use their strengths to design a life that they will love.

By the end of the session students had:

• Developed a greater sense of self through exploring their interests, strengths and values.

• An understanding of how they can use their values and strengths to design a career path.

• Explored the steps they can take to further explore their career ideas.

This is what our students had to say:

• The mentors offered insights into careers and linear and non-linear pathways. I also learnt how to become more involved in my career and where to research it.

• Our values should align with our future careers.

• I learnt the importance of understanding yourself before planning your future.

• I found the program really fun. The mentors were really open and friendly and the presenter was very helpful and knowledgeable.

• I gave the program a 10 as it gave me an open mind for my future choices.

• It was a great program that helped with my career choice. It helped me realise the impact and importance of having an open mind towards my future.
