School Work Support Program (SWSP) Website Launch – Plumpton High School

Plumpton High School runs a highly sophisticated School Work Support Program for students. It is led and facilitated by a group of student mentors and two teachers on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons each week between 2:45-4:00pm in the library (Da Vinci Learning and Resource Centre). Mentor students and teachers support students who attend with their schoolwork and assessment tasks where they seek it. There is also access to technology required to complete some requirements of student work.

Part of the mentor student team have devoted a significant amount of time during 2026 to build the School Work Support Program (SWSP) Website. This will have a soft launch during Term 4 2026 with a full launch in 2027. The photos / slides / project plan outline in more detail the vision behind the website and its purpose in supporting students succeed at school.

Plumpton implemented the SWSP at the commencement of 2021. The purpose of the program is to support the school’s vision which is based on the premise that excellence is achieved when the school community is courageous and commits to being the best we can be, contributing to the local and global context in a meaningful way.

The School Work Support Program enables students to build an increased intellectual learning capacity by creating opportunities for incremental, achievable and measurable growth and success. It also builds a sense of belonging and school spirit where they can fulfil their personal responsibility as a student, by contributing positively as a Safe Respectful Learner to the school community in the completion of their schoolwork. Students will be able to engage in the program voluntarily to support their learning at attainment of excellence.

The SWSP Mentor Vision Statement is below:

“As SWSP student mentors, we aim to provide a network of support and build each student’s individual academic capabilities because we value honesty, teamwork, patience, respect and fairness. We as a team, hope to inspire a sense of achievement and a different perspective of our peer’s capabilities. This is all done in the spirit of supporting and nurturing our school community.” - Mentors

I would like to express my sincere gratitude and congratulations to the members of the SWSP Mentor team - Zeesh, Jomar, Samaira and Aloah who led, developed, will launch and presented their project to me for Approval on Friday. Thank you also to the teacher coordinators of the SWSP Ms. Ramos and Ms. Matthews for their valued facilitation of SWSP.
