Plumpton Presents at Learning Creates Australia - We Are More Canberra National Conference

17 Aug 2026

Plumpton High School students Ysabela and Nayte with Priyanka Karan and I attended and presented at the recent Learning Creates Australia – ‘We Are More Canberra’ Conference. We presented part of our Futures Framework centred around our corporate mentoring structure.

The conference key focus was ‘How might we unlock skills confidence for every young person, in a skills-first world’? Attendees at the conference were a combination of the equivalent to UAC from across Australian states, government Miniters’ representatives, industry representatives, students, teachers, and principals. This is the third year Plumpton High School has been represented at the We Are More conference, previously in Hobart and Alice Springs.

We were also part of round tables where Nayte and Ysabela were called upon throughout the conference to contribute their perspective around the central focusses. In one round table Ysabela and I sought to have access to university micro-credentials accessible to school-aged students in areas they identify as HPGE. This is so they can undertake undergraduate Bachelor courses that can contribute to their university studies. The South Australian Skills Commissioner Cameron Baker made a commitment to undertake these enabling students such as Ysabela to commence their tertiary studies whilst at school, in Ysabela’s case Civil Engineering. Nayte also presented to the whole conference about the outcomes of one of the round table’s he was a part of.

Thank you to Learning Creates Australia's Pamela Tham and her incredible team for the highly engaging and productive conference that is seeing highly innovative pathways being established for our young people leading to bright and successful futures.
