Exceptional Global Science Results Plumpton High School – Global Big Science Competition

Congratulations to Plumpton High School Years 7-10 Science students for their exceptional results in the Global Big Science Competition. It is a global online science contest for students in Years 7 to 10, designed to test knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students can compare their performance against peers nationally and internationally, providing insights into their scientific competency.
This year Plumpton had 14 students achieve a High Distinction, 11 attained a Distinction and 25 students a Credit. Congratulations to these students and to their excellent science teachers who have continued Plumpton’s on developing High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE) Science students.
The Big Science Competition (BSC) is an international online science competition open to secondary students in Years 7 to 10 from Australia and around the world. It provides a platform for students to showcase their scientific knowledge, engage in problem-solving, and compete against peers globally. The competition has been running for over ten years and is recognized as one of the largest online science competitions for high school students.
Plumpton High School’s High Potential Gifted Education framework has a number of science focus programs students can apply for. These include the Experimenting with STEM program that offers the opportunity for students to use 21st century tools related to all things Science and Technology. It allows students to expand their knowledge and attitude and to gain new skills that will enable them to build relationships within the school and the wider community. This Program will give an opportunity for students to learn a range of different skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to develop way of thinking which can be used in everyday life and strengthen students’ problem solving and analytical skills.
The High Potential Gifted Education Forensic Science offer students a high-quality Forensic Science experience with a focus on forensic chemistry, forensic biology and technologies that will prepare students for further study in Science (Years 7-10) and Chemistry & Biology (Years 11-12). The High Potential Gifted Education Forensic Science program is an exclusive program offered by Plumpton High School and will be taught by a qualified DEC Science teacher. Plumpton also offers all Stage 6 HSC science courses including Physics, Investigating Science and Extension Science.
