Schools Work Support Program – Focus and Fuel Initiative

17 Apr 2026

We are excited to have recently launched the Focus and Fuel initiative, a new addition to our School Work Support Program at Plumpton High School designed to help students with their schoolwork while promoting a healthy lifestyle. This initiative is led by Ms Matthews and Ms Ramos, supported by a dedicated team of student facilitators. Focus and Fuel sessions will be held at lunchtime on Wednesdays and Fridays, providing students with assistance on their school tasks.

This initiative encourages students to take personal responsibility for their learning by using time purposefully. It supports the development of time management skills and empowers students to make effective use of their lunchtimes to work on and complete assessment tasks.

This new initiative builds on the long-standing Schools Work Support Program (SWSP), which has been running for several years. The existing program operates after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 pm to 4:00 pm in the da Vinci Learning and Resources Centre / Library.

The program offers students personalised assistance from both teachers and student mentors, including Aloah, Nyah, Almarie and Emma who volunteer their time as part of their Duke of Edinburgh International Award commitments. Students have access to computers and a supportive environment tailored to a variety of learning styles.

SWSP’s goal is to foster positive habits and the right mindset, empowering students to tackle complex problems, continuously challenge themselves, and seek help when needed.
