Back Into Learning Day 1 at Plumpton High School Marking 50 Years of Learning & Accomplishment

All Students in Years 7-12 commenced the 50th year of Plumpton High School on Monday 3 February getting straight back into high quality teaching and learning following Year Assemblies. Year 12 commenced their second Term of Year 12.

Year Assemblies focussed on celebrating accomplishments of 2025 highlighting the outstanding HSC results of the 2025 HSC Cohort and other incredible achievements that stemmed from hard and smart work over an extended period of time. Success came from across various disciplines including creative and performing arts, debating, sport, leadership, international academic competitions and more.

We detailed the plan for 2026 and key focusses of our school in teaching, learning, leadership and wellbeing for students inspired by this quote: “If you are more fortunate than others, build a longer table. Not a taller Fence”. This notion that learning is a collaborative journey where each of us holds personal responsibility—not only for our own progress but also in supporting our peers and enabling our teachers to teach effectively. This means actively seeking help when needed, whether for academic challenges or wellbeing, and offering assistance to classmates who may need support.

I reminded students that cultivating the right mindset is essential for success at school and beyond. This helps us become the best version of ourselves, inspired by the words: “Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life (that WHY). Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.”

Reaching these goals requires courage, determination, hard work, and teamwork. I also emphasised the value of time, sharing that “time is the only currency you spend without ever knowing your balance. Use it wisely.”

All students received their timetables, an introduction to our Wellbeing Framework, information on available supports, and clear expectations to help make 2026 a successful year. Together, we will continue to build a positive, productive, and collaborative school community.

I wish all our students, families, and staff a rewarding and fulfilling 2026 filled with growth and achievement.
