Plumpton Partnering with Western Sydney International Airport (WSIA)

Plumpton Partnering with Western Sydney International Airport

Our mission, in the Futures Centre, is to get our students DREAMING.... DREAMING OF EVERYTHING THEY WANT TO BE AND EVERYTHING THEY WANT TO DO!

In Week 8, 30 students from Years 10 and 12 visited the Western Sydney International Airport (WSIA) construction site. A visit to the Experience Centre to learn lots of fun facts was followed by a perimeter tour. The purpose of the event was to expose students to ALL the possible career opportunities, both now and in the future, at WSIA and DREAM about themselves, being right there, amongst it!

During the building phase of the WSIA roles exist in Earthworks, Architecture, Surveying & Design, Building & Construction, Apprenticeships, Engineering, Corporate and Commercial.

At the moment, at least 30% of construction jobs go to people who live in Western Sydney. The number of jobs, for people who live in Western Sydney, will increase to at least 50% by the time WSIA opens in 2026. The goal is to make sure that at least 20% of jobs are for apprentices, trainees and other learning workers. In the future, WSIA will employ people in roles as diverse as Technology, Airport Operations, Safety & Security, Logistics & Supply Chain.

"No matter your interest, experience or skillset, there will be room for you to begin your journey or grow as we do."

If you are interested in visiting the Experience Centre and seeing the Airport first hand, visiting hours are:

Monday – Wednesday, 10am to 4pm

Saturday – Sunday, 10am to 4pm
