During this lesson the students in 7 Da Vinci identify and describe the basic needs required by humans. Students identified the difference between a want and a need, apply the basic needs to real life scenarios and select and explain our most important 5 Basic Needs.
Mr Canning and Ms Kumar are the two Positive Psychology teachers for Year 7 at Plumpton. Should you need to discuss any wellbeing aspects of your child’s learning at school please contact their Positive Psychology Teacher in the first instance.
Plumpton High School students from years 7-12 are engaged in the school’s Positive Psychology Student Wellbeing Program that is part of each student’s timetable. The students Positive Psychology Teacher teaches their class from year 7-12 and is their primary pastoral care contact at school. Plumpton implemented this model in 2015 and it replaces the old Year Advisor structure many people would remember.
The teachers are trained in 3 psychological frameworks: Choice Theory Reality Therapy, Positive Psychology and Growth Mindset. The school is presently adding Restorative Practice to our whole school Wellbeing Framework adding additional structures to support students develop lifelong habits and practices enabling success as global citizens and the leaders of tomorrow
