10 Year 7 students and 10 Year 8 attended a special event, at the Optus Headquarters, on digital safety and space tech careers. There were about 300 students in attendance and another 700 participated online. The former Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, delivered the welcoming address and our students were fortunate enough to have a quick chat and photograph with her.
Students moved around the Campus and in the Digital Thumbprint Workshop, students were guided in spotting a scam and blocking fake friends. It also covered important digital defence moves for digital safety. Students had the chance to meet Mobil 1 Optus Racing Driver, Chaz Mostert, and to learn about digital safety and wellbeing from his perspective, including:
• Protecting personal information
• Hackers, scammers and fake friends
• Different crimes by cyber criminals
• Cyber-bullying and respectful relationships
Students were also able to discover the world of digital careers. From launch to orbit, the Optus Satellite team told students about the role satellites play in everyday life. Space Tech Graduates also shared their knowledge and passion about space.
A sincere thanks to Optus for supporting the learning journey of our students as they navigate this complex rapidly changing world.
