The University of Sydney Year 11 Future Focus

The University of Sydney Year 11 Future Focus

30 of our Year 11 students attended The University of Sydney Year 11 Future Focus event. Students learnt about:

  • Study options available at the University
  • The link between their personal interests and skills with higher education study options and future career paths
  • The importance of extra-curricular activities in scholarship applications
  • Clubs and societies available at The University of Sydney

Students had the opportunity to select a Faculty activity to participate in on the day. Faculties included:

  • Architecture, Design and Planning
  • Arts and Social Sciences
  • Business
  • Engineering
  • Law
  • Medicine & Health
  • Science

The first session was the “Thinking Ahead Workshop” where Student Ambassadors guided students through a series of activities to encourage reflection on skills, capabilities and values, and how they relate to ambitions and options for Higher Education. This was followed by presentations by USYD Clubs and Societies illustrating student life at the university.

During the “Faculty Experience Sessions”, students selected a hands-on practical activity in their area of interest. The aim of the activity was to stimulate curiosity and connect students with knowledge and career information in that specific area of study.

The final session was “Admission Pathways and a Student Ambassador Panel”. In this session, students were provided with an opportunity to ask any questions that they may have about admissions to the university, scholarships and student life.

Thank you to the University of Sydney for providing our students with this opportunity to assist in their post school destination decision making process.
