Plumpton Selected to be a part of NSW Department of Education’s Generative AI Pilot

NSW EduChat Discovery Room

It is with great excitement that I can announce that Plumpton High School has been selected at 1 of 16 schools to be included in the trial the NSW Department of Education’s generative AI trial using its new AI tool – NSWEduChat.

This trial will continue enabling our school and students to maintain the same rate of change as that in the world beyond school. This is through providing access to the most recent technology available and the associated learning to maximise students’ ability to use the technology to become the best that they can be, building the necessary capacity to not only succeed at school but excel in life.

Plumpton has been working with Computer Science (CS) in Schools over a number of years and students have engaged in generative AI learning activities through these programs with a number of our students winning national awards in the Day of AI competition supported by the TDM Foundation and Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.

“Generative AI, or artificial intelligence that can create new content, is revolutionising the way we interact with technology. In just one minute, let me tell you about the incredible benefits it brings.

First and foremost, generative AI opens up a world of creativity. It has the ability to generate unique and original content, such as art, music, and even storytelling. This means that artists, musicians, and writers can use AI as a tool to enhance their creative process, pushing the boundaries of what is possible. With generative AI, we can explore new artistic styles, compose beautiful melodies, and create captivating narratives that were once unimaginable.

Furthermore, generative AI has tremendous potential in the field of research and innovation. It can analyse vast amounts of data and generate insights that humans might have never discovered on their own. This can accelerate scientific discoveries, help solve complex problems, and contribute to advancements in various fields, from medicine to climate change.

Generative AI also has the power to personalise our experiences. By understanding our preferences and patterns, AI algorithms can generate tailored recommendations for us, whether it's suggesting a new book, curating a playlist, or even creating a personalised workout plan. This level of personalisation enhances our daily lives and makes technology more intuitive and user-friendly.

Lastly, generative AI has the potential to bridge language barriers. With its ability to translate languages and generate human-like speech, AI can facilitate communication across different cultures and enable meaningful interactions. This has a profound impact on global collaboration, education, and cultural exchange.

In conclusion, generative AI is a game-changer. Its creative potential, research capabilities, personalization, and ability to bridge language barriers make it an invaluable tool in our increasingly digital world. Let's embrace generative AI and harness its benefits to create a more innovative, inclusive, and interconnected society”.

We look forward providing our students and staff with incredible opportunities using generative AI to support their ongoing learning journeys and wish to thank all of our business partners for their support and the Department for this incredible opportunity.
