Annacemone Nishad Blacktown City Youth Ambassador 2024 – Congratulations

Annacemone Nishad awarded Blacktown City Youth Ambassador 2024

Congratulations to Annacemone Nishad in Year 10 who won the Blacktown City Youth Ambassador 2024 position against strong competitors from throughout Blacktown City. Annacemone is joined by Dustin Jamison from Norwest Christian College. Annacemone will have the honour to serve the youth of Blacktown City in this prestigious leadership role over the next year. She along with Dustin will work collaboratively with Council on initiatives to improve the lives of youth across the vastly diverse Council. During the time they will also represent the city at Citizenship Ceremonies and Civic Receptions, as well as representing the Youth as part of the Sister Cities and Youth Advisory Committees.

I would also like to recognise and congratulate Anis Ali and Mariyam Malik who were also selected in the final 7 from an initial 120 student applicants to deliver their 5-minute speech on how they would improve opportunities for youth in Blacktown City. The competition runs over 3 rounds with students having to participate in two rounds of interviews and if selected for the final make a 5-minute speech at the Blacktown Youth Ambassador Award Dinner and Ceremony.

Plumpton High School has had a long tradition of having students selected as Blacktown City Youth Ambassador. In 2017 Jessica Szakacs, Plumpton High School Vice-Captain fulfilled this role along with a position on the NSW Youth Advisory Council and in 2018 Emily Potloka held the position with several Plumpton students holding the position prior to this.

Thank you to Jessica Szakacs who works for the Advertising Council of Australia for supporting Annacemone, Anis and Mariyam in their preparations for the final. Once again congratulations to Annacemone, Anis and Mariyam.

Tim Lloyd, Principal
