24 Year 10 students attended, along with 7 other schools with a total of 240 students, the Year 10 Future Focus event at The University of Sydney. Students were treated to a Campus tour, including the historic Great Hall and Quadrangle.
The commenced the event with a ‘Get to Know Yourself Workshop’ in the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre. Students were guided through activities and introduced to a wide range of resources to assist them in their decision-making processes for life beyond high school.
Second stop was the Sybil Centre within The Women's College (a residential college for students). During this session, students were presented with links to Higher Education to enable them to explore their options within the framework of what they had learnt about themselves in the earlier session.
Following a delicious lunch in the Susan Wakil Building Upper Graden, students returned to the Sybil Centre for an Expo. Faculties showcased their offerings and students had an opportunity to ask questions and find more information about different areas of study. Our students conduct and presentation over the course of the day was commendable. Ambassadors commented that our Plumpton students were ‘standouts’!
I would like to sincerely thank the University of Sydney, their Future Students Unit and those students and staff from the university for their informative and welcoming day that provided much insight into opportunities our students can pursue at the university of Sydney.
