UTS orientation

Congratulations to 20 of our Year 11 students who applied for and were successful in gaining a place in the UTS U@Uni Academy for the 2025 HSC Graduating Cohort. They attended their Orientation Day and were briefed for their Winter School (1 week during the school holidays).

Congratulations to these students: Alexandra Assuncao, Martin Basta, Lara Cerit, Logan Dartnell, Kristine Devi, Katherine Devi, Angelyn Devi-Chand, Sania Hassain, Gianna Jumonong, Kyleiah Kennedy-Ballos, Manav Kumar, Sean Manalansan, Maxene Marasigan, Bailey Murray, Faiza Shajar, Bernina Taufeulungaki, Monica Tauga, Faryal Tayyab, Rachel Toso and Justin Tran.

Students travelled by train from Mount Druitt to Central station and then made their way to the UTS Broadway Campus, a 10-minute underground walk. The day included a Welcome session, 2 Faculty sessions and morning tea and lunch. There were some 400 students in attendance at the Orientation, broken into Faculties such as Health, Design and Architecture, Science, Business, Arts and Social Sciences, Education and Transdisciplinary Innovation.

UTS as "Agents for Social Change" offer U@Uni as it allows students to get a feel for university life through first-hand experience and by trying out different subjects. Being part of the Academy guarantees students finishing Year 12 with an offer to study at UTS. The Program is aimed at looking beyond the ATAR. Abilities that students bring to UTS are valued. The Academy is offered exclusively to their U@Uni partner schools.

It is a two-year program involving activities on- and off campus along with a mentoring program tailored to Year 11 and 12 students. It’s about exploring options for the future, finding out what interests you, and learning skills that you can apply in the real world. In order to receive an offer to study at UTS upon completion of the U@Uni Academy, students are expected to satisfy some academic and attendance requirements.

Thank you to UTS and the team that enable this outstanding program to run.
