Congratulations to the 54 students from Plumpton High School who completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Practice Adventurous Journey in Berowra Valley National Park. Special thanks to Liam Canning, Alyssa Gordon, Pritika Kumar, and Hayden Gerrie for their support.
The students pushed their limits by hiking tough terrain, learning canoeing, and demonstrating resilience in cold conditions. They enjoyed stunning views at Berowra Waters Lookout and tackled the challenging ‘Heartbreak Hill’. After crossing a river, they rested at Mitten Caves, playing “Emperor and Scum.”
On day two, one group hiked 7km past Mitten Caves, while others canoed to Berowra Waters. Day three involved packing up for the final 7km hike to Mt Ku-ring-gai Oval, navigating river crossings and a waterfall before facing ‘Solebreaker’. The students encouraged each other to reach the top confidently.
Once again thank you to our dedicated teachers as with their generosity our students are able to benefit immensely by being able to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Framework and Black Diamond Adventures for making this experience possible.
