University Early Entry for 2024 – Congratulations

University Early Entry for 2024 – Congratulations

Congratulations to the 2023 HSC Cohort students and their teachers for the excellent work they have undertaken enabling 75 Early Entry to university offers to be made across several universities and a diverse range of degree courses to date.

This continues a long tradition at Plumpton High School of students being engaged in a multitude of pathway options whilst at school to access university led by our incredible Futures Centre staff Ms Karan, Ms Avon and Ms Langham through our Career Path Planning Framework. Some of these pathway options programs are included in the data below.

A number of school-based strategies are also enabling such wonderful futures options for our students including our Student Executive Council (SEC) structure that sees students engaged in commercial project management, professional public speaking, charity and volunteering work and leadership capacity building. This leadership framework continues to flourish in partnership with City Group and ABCN.

Our Duke of Edinburgh International Award Scheme program for which Plumpton won a National Award in 2023 is embedded in the PDHPE Year 9 program ensures students have access to this program that develops resilience, courage, community engagement and leadership.

Ongoing partnerships with our 40+ highly valued business partners who mentor students in a multitude of areas such as leadership, career path planning, STEM, Creative and Performing Arts contribute significantly. Some of these partners include ABCN, Citi Group, Lean Lease, Western Sydney International Airport, PVH, AMEX, Commonwealth Bank, OPTUS, Bunnings, Ikea and The Beacon Foundation

Student participation in University Partnership programs is also invaluable for our students and their development and understanding of what ‘university life’ looks and feels like. Some of these programs include; University of Technology UTS U@Uni Academy program, UNSW Gateway program, Western Sydney University Fast Forward Program and Macquarie University Leaders and Achievers program.

Participation in Plumpton’s 14 High Potential and Gifted Education programs that have direct links with universities and future career options are also enabling alternate pathways to university such as; Media Industry Studies in partnership with the ABC and UNSW; Engineering Studies, Computer Science, Robotics in partnership with UBS and Forensic Science being taught by a qualified forensic scientist. A number of these programs have industry trained experts as the teachers such as engineers, professional dancers, musicians, and practicing creative artists.

Once again congratulations and thank you to all those who support our students ongoing educational and career journeys enabling them to be positively contributing global citizens and our leaders of tomorrow.
