14 of our girls in Year 8, 9 and 10 travelled to the South Eveleigh precinct and Commonwealth Bank offices to attend the fabulous 2024 Girls in Tech event.
The event opened with keynote speakers including Helen Lau (Head of Engineering Technology - CommBank), Ly Lien (Software Engineer - CommBank, Prof Noushin Nasiri (Head of Nanotechnology Lab - Macquarie University), Dr Emma Camp (Marine Biologist - UTS) and Catherine Williams (Character FX Artist - Animal Logic).
Students were able to immerse themselves in a variety of Technology Exhibitions including Emerging Technologies by Telstra, Artificial Intelligence by CommBank AI Labs, Cyber Security by CommBank, Nanotechnology by Macquarie University, Animation by Animal Logic, STEM Careers and Tech for Social Good by Helping Hands Program.
ABCN also joined the event with Design Thinking Principles Workshops. Students developed their STEM skills including problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, flexibility, curiosity, research, and analysis. The girls designed, built and raced a "blow powered car".
Thank you to the Commonwealth Bank, Telstra and ABCN for enabling our students to understand what the future of Tech looks like, engage in the processes and the vast career opportunities available.
