A huge congratulations to Aliyah Arriaga and Bailey Miller from our 2023 HSC Cohort who have been presented with their Jim Anderson Memorial Scholarships by Mrs Kathleen Anderson held at Plumpton High School. The students receive $5,000 each to be used in supporting their studies at Western University. Aliyah is studying a Bachelor of Social Science & Bachelor of Laws and Bailey a Bachelor of Accounting.
Mr Jim Anderson, the former Member for Londonderry in the NSW State Parliament, and former Mayor of Blacktown City Council, passed suddenly in 2003. Mr Anderson worked tirelessly for public education, and he was deeply committed to improving the future for young people in Western Sydney.
In April 2003, the former Premier of NSW, Mr Bob Carr MP, announced the establishment of the Jim Anderson Scholarships to honour Mr Anderson's memory by providing financial support for up to five Western Sydney government high school students.
Once again congratulations to Aliyah and Bailey for their outstanding achievement and due recognition.
